Notes:
This tequila is produced in the lowlands of the state of Jalisco, in the town of Tequila (yes, there is a town called that). This tequila is made in a state-of-the-art, but family-owned tequilera which dates to 1924 (while the family and a distillery can be traced back to the area for almost 300 years). The master distiller is the third generation descendant of the original owner.

They also use the traditional Hornitos clay ovens unlike most of their rivals, who use live steam or huge steel ovens that look more like lumber drying kilns to quickly mass produce their idea of a tequila. The steel ovens and other shortcuts don't yield the same results.

This is the youngest expression of this particular line. The others being Don Roberto Reposado, and Don Roberto Anejo.

Appearance: Crystal clear like spring water or clear sap, lovely body. On swirling, it leaves a very light coating on the glass which then seems to almost evaporate off the side.

First Impression: Olive brine, melon, dry spice notes, bay leaves, traces of allspice or ginger. Softer and more fruity than a highland tequila.

Taste: Sweetish, somewhat thick tasting and fruity, almost like a melon. Dry smooth finish with green and black peppers, hints tobacco, and alkali notes. As with almost all lowland tequilas it lacks the mineral bite of the highlands and their other signature tastes .

Drinks: Yields some very fruity and soft margaritas and Tequila Sunrises, less assertive than a highland tequila and more melon fruit like, this is a positive when mixing some drinks. Be sure to use fresh juice and and a good mixer like Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or Combier anything else is a insult to both the tequila and your guests.

Cigars: A good mild cigar Fuente Hemingway series or Rocky Patel - natural wrapper.

Final Thoughts: Another example where quality ingredients, attention to detail, and uncompromising standards yield a superior product. Nicely done and of high quality, a shining example of a Lowland Tequila (of which there are few notable ones).

Bottle: Clear recycled glass with mild dimpling glass bottle with combination of silk screened graphics on clear plastic labels and parchment type paper labels make it easy to find in the crowded shelf. The color of the label is gold to match the color and age of the tequila. Cork closure with large wooden top give it a antique, rustic feel.

A fast loading site but not as detailed as some with information and pictures. Well done visually and lays out information well, if a touch hard to get used to at first.
