Vodka - White Diamond
Notes: This particular vodka uses a mix of rye and wheat for the grain and deep artesian well water, and is distilled 5 times before being filtered through a 14 step filtration process of "Natural Mountain Crystals."
Appearance: Crystal clear, no sediment whatsoever. Limpid pool in the glass. On swirling, it leaves a thin clear coat on the inside of the glass with long thin legs and droplets forming. Nice bright appearance.
First Impression: Alcohol and grain, a bit more complex than a single grain vodka. No trace of off-notes, if a bit spirity. Nice distilled grain notes to it
Taste: Nice thick grain body glide past the tongue nipping at it with the alcohol edge and nice lingering finish. Slight sweetness and the sour of a rye. Slightly oily and thick body but not too heavy, with a nice mineral water body thrown in. Nicely complex with a bit of bite and a slight burn to it. Let's you know your drinking vodka, not rainwater.
Drinks: Martini* was excellent (with olive or twist) the blend of grains lend a interesting depth and complexity (something a vodka martini sorely needs anyway). All the other drinks benefited from the minerally taste and and the extra layers of subtle flavor. It stands out more than most without overwhelming the drink.
*Use Noilly Prat and keep the vermouth refrigerated after opening for the best taste.
Final Thoughts: Significantly less money than either Stoli or the Avian Fashion Victim Vodka, but with more depth and complexity. If you want a good,honest, cheap vodka I recommend it.
Bottle: Clear glass bottle with Blue and White paper label and silk screening. Not a lot of visual clutter shows vodka to good effect.
Fast-loading, in English, with a not a great deal of information.
