Notes:
One of a series of bitters from a relatively new company in American company - although truth be told anyone other than Fee, Angostura, Underberg and Peychauds - all in business for over 100 years -is a relative newcomer), the founders of the company, Janet and Avery launched their unique products on the market in 2007.
The other bitters in the regular series are: Bittermens Boston Bittahs, Bittermens Grapefruit, and Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters, there also may be seasonal bitters of different flavors coming out in the future.
First Impression: Aromatic and spicy combination lots of spice going on.
Appearance: Gold brown, fairly thin and free flowing compared to some bitters.
Taste: Very dry, somewhat bitter, and quite aromatic with a lot of spice notes. Bitter, aromatic and spicy alkali makes for a intriguing blend.
Drinks: Punches up brown spirits nicely and adds flavor accents without overwhelming the spirit.
Bottle: Dark cobalt blue glass old-style / tincture bottle with a built in eyedropper in the screw on cap for ease of use.
Other: Dropper eliminates imprecision in using (rather than a dash type top).
Final Thoughts:
An interesting bitters- somewhere between an amaro and a spice cake in terms of the flavor palette. Well made and interesting addition to the bitters category. Yes, it costs 4 times as much as the cheap stuff - but take a look at our Bitter Math page to see how meaningless that is
Website:
http://bittermens.com
Quick loading website- with decent amount of information and company history, where to order (always important), events and updates. With all this, somehow still easy-to-navigate.
